Microsoft Great Plains Administrator/Developer-SQL

VPX Sports is currently looking for intelligent, energetic, self-motivated GP administrator/ Developer with a strong SQL background for full-time opportunities at our corporate office. Candidates must be team players, possessing a firm understanding of object oriented SQL programming principles. They must also have experience in the development, deployment and support of multi-platform applications. Candidates need a minimum of at least two years working experience utilizing solid GP & SQL development practices; demonstrating strong knowledge of HTML, XML, VB.NET, ASP.NET and Web Services. Candidates must also be adept in SQL Server processes and technologies such as data modeling, warehousing, views, indexes, stored procedures, triggers and SSIS/SSRS Services. Knowledge of IIS 7 & AJAX are a plus, but not required. The candidates should also be creative, ambitious, detailed oriented, organized and success driven. In short, the SQL/Web Application Developer will be responsible for developing applications and integrations using the Microsoft Visual Studio & Microsoft SQL Server platform that supports new or existing, internal or external company web sites and applications. He or she will perform all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle, including business analysis, design, implementation, problem-solving, maintenance and support. Summary: The GP administrator/developer will have exceptional technical skills with a focus on Microsoft Technologies. The candidate must be flexible and heavily involved with supporting our clients as well as our service, sales and marketing teams. He or she will perform all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle, including business analysis, design, implementation, problem-solving, maintenance and support. The ideal candidate must display excellent written and oral skills with demonstrated interpersonal and organizational abilities. Candidates will need the ability to work independently and with teams. Lastly, candidates must be able to work in a varied, fast paced environment. Flexibility and tolerance is a necessity. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (Include the following. Analyze, review and modify web architecture by designing, maintaining, documenting, testing, developing and monitoring existing web/data systems and performance Maintain and enhance existing web applications and supporting internal systems Support and improve the existing data warehouse, exports and reports Assist in gathering project requirements and specifications for new assignments Construct new web applications and supporting data systems as instructed by supervisor Determine database configuration requirements for project’s business processes Construct new data warehouse and business intelligence platform for new projects when needed Create databases, tables, schemas, views and stored procedures as required Develop and configure external web portals allowing users to insert and retrieve information both speedily and accurately Develop database utilities and automated reporting processes Create automation scripts to expedite tasks between environments Monitor all jobs to ensure they remain uninterrupted and fully functional Develop new SSIS/SSRS packages in accordance with company/client needs Conduct thorough business and user requirement testing, document results and repair bugs if found Provide quality checks on reports and exports to ensure exceptional quality Communicate project status and deliverables regularly with managers and team The Ideal candidate will also possess the following skills: Profound knowledge of database concepts Familiar with the architecture of clients, servers, and Internet systems Fluent with HTML, XML, VB.NET, ASP.NET and Web Services Skilled with SQL Server technologies such as data modeling, warehousing, views, indexes and SSIS/SSRS Services Ability to create and optimize SQL stored procedures, functions and triggers Confident in Transact SQL (TSQL) for Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Experience with hardware and software issues Proficient in Internet related applications such as E-Mail clients, IIS, Web Services, FTP clients, Microsoft Visual Studio 2010, Microsoft SQL Server 2008 and Web Browsers Write functional and design specifications for web and data applications Code, test, and support data-driven web applications Desire to stay updated on current and new technologies Must be a team player and willing to teach and learn Ability to work efficiently – whether independently or in a team to meet deadlines Self motivated with intense attention to detail Adept in multitasking with strong time management and organizational skills Able to promptly answer support related phone calls, emails and other electronic communications Excellent communication (oral and written) , interpersonal, organizational, and presentation skills Assumes additional responsibility without being asked Ability to work additional hours as needed Encourages fellow team members to make innovative contributions and embrace new ideas aligned with the company’s mission and direction Typing proficiency: 40-60 wpm Qualifications: To succeed in this position, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, web development, design, other related field or experience Understands both technical and functional development requirements Two to four years experience working with Microsoft Development tools, including Microsoft Visual Studio and Microsoft SQL Server Experience developing and supporting Client/Server technology Ability to work fluently in the .NET (Version 4.0) framework Strong Microsoft SQL experience required (MS SQL 2008) At least three years of relational database experience.
