Responsibilities
|
VPX Sports is currently looking for energetic, intelligent, self-motivated, .NET Web Development professionals for full-time opportunities at our corporate office. Candidates must be team players, possessing a firm understanding of object oriented programming principles. Candidates need a minimum of at least two years working experience utilizing solid development practices; demonstrating strong knowledge of HTML, XHTML, XML, CSS, VB.NET, ASP.NET, Web Services and SQL Server technologies. Knowledge of IIS 7, AJAX, Adobe Photoshop, and Macromedia Flash are a plus. The candidates should also be creative, ambitious, detailed oriented, organized and success driven. In short, the Web Developer will be responsible for building, deploying and managing websites and web applications for both internal and external environments as determined by management.
Summary:
The VB.NET Web Application Developer will share the responsibility of supporting the existing web/application infrastructure and creating new solutions as required. The ideal candidate must exhibit strong knowledge of HTML, XHTML, XML, CSS, VB.NET, ASP.NET, Web Services and SQL Server technologies. The candidate must also display excellent written and oral skills with demonstrated interpersonal and organizational abilities. Lastly, he or she must be able to work in a varied, fast paced environment. Flexibility and tolerance is a necessity.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Analyze, review and modify web architecture by designing, maintaining, documenting, testing, developing and monitoring existing systems and performance
- Maintain and enhance existing web applications
- Assist in gathering project requirements and other business specifications for new assignments
- Construct new web applications/features as instructed by supervisor
- Create interfaces and supporting databases ensuring scalability, optimization and uninterrupted functionality
- Develop external web portals that allow users to insert and retrieve information both speedily and accurately
- Conduct thorough business and user requirement testing, document results and repair bugs if found
- Communicate project status and deliverables regularly with managers and team members

- Understand general database concepts
- Be familiar with the architecture of clients, servers, and Internet systems
- Fluent with HTML, XHTML, XML, CSS, VB.NET, ASP.NET and Web Services
- Experience with hardware and software issues
- Proficient in Internet related applications such as E-Mail clients, IIS, FTP clients, Microsoft Visual Studio 2010, Microsoft SQL Server 2008 and Web Browsers
- Write functional and design specifications for web applications
- Code, test, and support data-driven web applications
- Desire to stay updated on current and new technologies
- Must be a team player and willing to both teach and learn
- Ability to work independently and efficiently to meet deadlines
- Self motivated with profound attention to detail
- Adept in multitasking with strong time management and organizational skills
- Able to promptly answer support related phone calls, emails and other electronic communications
- Excellent communication (oral and written), interpersonal, organizational, and presentation skills
- Assumes additional responsibility without being asked
- Ability to work additional hours as needed
- Encourages fellow team members to make innovative contributions and embrace new ideas aligned with the company’s mission and direction
- Typing proficiency: 40-60 wpm
Qualifications: To succeed in this position, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, web development, design, other related field or experience
- Understands both technical and functional development requirements
- Two to four years experience in web development, with a minimum of one year producing table-free, XHTML standard cross browser compliant websites
- Furnished custom applications from concept to completion
- Possesses demonstrated working experience with VB.NET and at least one relational database management system (preferably Microsoft SQL Server)
- Ability to work fluently in the .NET (Version 4.0) framework
- Possess strong skills in Microsoft SQL Server 2005 or greater
- In depth knowledge of HTML, JavaScript, XHTML, XML, CSS, VB.NET, ASP.NET and Web Services
- Familiar with Visual Studio 2010, IIS7 & Windows Server 2005 or greater
- Demonstrated experience thriving in structured environment with increased levels of complexity and responsibility
- Previous experience with ticketing, merchandise, Point-Of-Sale systems a plus
- Provided exceptional support instructing non-technical users on web/application related concerns
- Respond proactively to training, technical support and other customer service needs in accordance with company’s standard operating procedures
